At Cleveland Park United Church of Christ, we believe it is important not only to focus in on our church, but also to reach out to our local, regional and international communities. We do this through participating in mission (both charity and justice) activities, maintaining partnerships with important community groups, and contributing financially to non-profit organizations and UCC special offerings.
- Homelessness and Poverty (including at-risk youth)
- Substance Abuse
- LGBT Issues
- Environment and Creation Care
In recent years we have participated in both the AIDS Walk and Help the Homeless Walk-a-thon; initiated Community Clean Ups; volunteered for Meals-on-Wheels and the local food pantry; delivered groceries to low-income seniors; sent weekly volunteers to an after school tutoring program for low-income youth; collected food and clothing for homeless shelters; and hosted a quarterly interfaith meditation evening. Our high school youth travel take a mission trip each year. We are currently working on how to support immigrant and refugee issues.
Mission activities are governed by the Mission & Social Action Committee, which meets bi-monthly. If you are interested in joining the committee or participating in a mission project, please contact our Mission Chair at email@example.com.
