Please join us for worship Sundays at 10:30 am. We offer childcare and Sunday School for all ages and welcome everyone to our lively Coffee Hour following the service. Here’s what’s going on in the life of the church:


8/20—St. Paul’s Food Pantry: We need six volunteers to serve from 9 am-Noon at St. Paul’s Food Pantry, located at 4900 Connecticut Avenue, www.stpaulslutherandc.org. To participate: jsingleterry@gmail.com.


goodbye8/21—Coffee Hour Concert and Goodbye: Please join us for an extra special after-worship coffee hour. We’ll celebrate our time with sabbatical support pastor Margee Iddings. In addition, Soprano Shaina Martinez will sing some of her favorites to say farewell before she goes off to graduate school in New York City. Please come and wish Shaina and Margee all the best, and enjoy beautiful music, cake and special treats.


8/28—The Moral Revival: This national tour, led by Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II, Rev. Dr. James A. Forbes, Jr., Sister Simone Campbell and Rev. Dr. Traci Blackmon of the UCC’s social justice ministries, comes to DC’s Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church in Southeast DC. The program, which starts at 5 pm, seeks to “redefine morality in American politics and challenge leaders of faith and moral courage to be more vocally opposed to harmful policies that disproportionately impact the poor, people who are ill, children, immigrants, communities of color, and religious minorities.” For more information, contact Carol L. Slugg A Boy's Life9/25 – Coffee Hour Conversation: Tony Lewis, author of Slugg: A Boy’s Life in the Age of Mass Incarceration, will join us for part one of this series of talks sponsored by the adult programs committee.


9/25—FaithLife Group Resumes:  New members heartily invited! Are you looking for a place to ask big questions and think deep thoughts about your faith and your life—and how they intersect? These sessions, led by Pastor Ellen and Dan Sack with significant input from the participants, are structured around common readings but leave plenty of room for your questions. 11/4 to 11/5—Spiritual Retreat, “Many Ways to Pray:” We’ll start at dinnertime on Friday going to dinnertime on Saturday, at Bon Secours in Marriottsville, Maryland. Registration opens in August.


Mission Committee—We’re collecting cleaning supplies for Friendship Place and toiletries for St. Paul’s Food Pantry on an ongoing basis. Just bring your donations to the church and put them in the bins in the parlor near the piano. Thank you!


Midrash—Rev. Margee Iddings, our sabbatical support pastor, has been referring to the Jewish technique of Midrash in some of her sermons. Click here for more information about Midrash.
