CPC Supports Shaw Gala

A contingent from Cleveland Park Congregational UCC had a great time on June 29 supporting one of our mission partners, Shaw Community Center, at its first annual gala! Every year, our congregation donates to the Center as part of our commitment to tithe 10% of our income to support mission and social action programs in our community and denomination.

Garden Report: Mugwort and Fireflies!

As the first fireflies of summer appear in the side yard, would you like to share in some foraged bounty from our garden? Mary Jane Glass reports a new way to get rid of a problematic invasive plant, mugwort: Eat it!

Mugwort’s roots spread aggressively, but it’s edible, and delicious. Mary Jane says she’s gaining ground in this garden war. She writes, “It’s very good lightly sauteed and served over all sorts of dishes.”

Introducing Preaching Fellow Liz Pruchnicki

Elizabeth Pruchnicki will be joining us this summer as our Preaching Fellow while Ellen is on vacation. She will preach for five Sundays, July 9 through August 6, and lead coffee hour conversations on July 23 and August 6.

Our Church Building Is Busy!

In addition to worship and congregational meetings and events, a number of other groups use our building these days. Kinderhaus, of course, uses the newly renovated basement weekdays from 8 am to 5 pm. But that’s not all – here’s a quick summary of the other groups that regularly use our space:
