It’s good to be back after my weekend visiting prospective colleges with Teddy. We had gorgeous fall weather, and the leaves just kept getting bolder and more beautiful as we headed north! I’m grateful to Pat Lindsey and Dan Sack for preaching and leading a wonderful worship service while I was away. It’s important for me to take a break, and I think it’s enriching for the congregation to hear from a variety of voices in our midst.

I am, admittedly, still reeling from yesterday’s news that our wonderful Church Administrator, Kimberly Durham Bates, passed away after a yearlong struggle with pancreatic cancer. I pray that she is now at peace and that her young adult children will be held and nurtured by the communities she left behind.
Memorial Service: Kim’s service will be held on Saturday, 9/13, at 11:00 am at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Georgetown. St. John’s is currently working to create an education trust

This week we mourn the death of long-time congregation member, Chester Gray Dunham. Chester and his wife, Georgie, were founding members of the Adult Bible Class and participated actively in the overall life of our congregation for twenty-five years.
