Sunday School begins at 10:30 am, when children and youth join in worship with the rest of the congregation – singing, praying, and participating in a Children’s Talk with our Pastor or lay leaders. By 11 am, they leave for an age-appropriate lesson with our Sunday School Lead Teacher and lay volunteers.
High School students participate in a once-a-month breakfast and discussion group led by volunteers and staff. The teens converse on topics and themes of their choice and also enjoy regular participation in service-related activities within and outside of the church. These have included food drives, work at a local food pantry, and week-long mission/work trips in Appalachia and Puerto Rico.
Coming of Age is a confirmation program for young teens. It provides them with an opportunity to explore their beliefs and faith tradition in the context of our UCC denomination as they decide whether to become official members of our congregation. Students meet with the pastor and adult congregation members twice a month for active learning, conversation and community service. This nine-month program concludes in May with a celebratory confirmation service planned by the youth.
Intergenerational Worship is scheduled regularly so that our children and youth can benefit from the diversity of ages that make up our congregation. These services incorporate themes and activities that are well received by our oldest and youngest church members. Examples include: Blessing of the Animals, All Souls, Christmas Pageant, Creation Care, and Children’s Sunday.
