The annual Christmas pageant was as magical as ever. The children and young adults who took part all performed their parts wonderfully. Pastor Ellen reminded us in advance that any incidents that might be a little off-script would only make the events seem more real. So the angel who occasionally wandered and wondered, the sheep that occasionally strayed, and the missing frankincense and double gifting of myrrh only enhanced the fine performance. And the little bit dusty, little bit crusty, but always trusty star arrived over the stable on cue. My gratitude to all those who worked so hard to make this happen.
I will be traveling to be with my sister and her family for Christmas and regret missing the Christmas Eve service of readings and carols in the sanctuary and reception afterward in the parlor. I am so glad this tradition is returning after a two-year hiatus and it promises to be a joyful occasion for those attending in person and taking part from home.
Since I won’t be seeing you on Christmas Eve, let me take this opportunity to wish each and every one of you a Joyous Christmas and a great big Happy New Year. In the immortal words of Tiny Tim, “God bless Us, Every One.”
Until next time,
Bruce
