Dear Friends:
I have a confession to share: I am a PLANNER. Yes, that’s right, a planner in all caps. I’m constantly making to-do lists; I innately sequence events and activities on a critical path; I don’t have goals without also identifying all the actions required to make them a reality.
These traits are a huge asset in my professional life where I manage complex marketing pursuits and come up with the concrete structure to achieve business development and sustainment goals. They also mean I love strategic planning in just about any form it can take, so you can see why I’m excited about the strategic planning we are engaging in at Cleveland Park Congregational Church and particularly the Imagine What’s Possible workshop coming up on March 4th.
You may not be a planner like me, but I sincerely hope each of you can also appreciate the awesome opportunity we have as a church to come together and hear God’s call for us now and in the future. On March 4 from 12:30 to 4pm, we will be guided by an experienced facilitator in prayer, reading scriptures, listening quietly for the still-small-voice, and discerning collectively what God is saying to us. It should be a spiritually enriching and fruitful afternoon, but it can only achieve its full potential for collective discernment if we all bring our different voices and talents and perspectives together.
Please join us. Sign up on the sheet in the parlor this Sunday or reply to this email to have your name added.
See the attachment for the rest of our Lenten calendar. I look forward to seeing you in church!
Peace,
Lori
IMAGINE WHAT’S POSSIBLE!
What does a vibrant, thriving CPC look like to you? We need the voice and vision of every member and friend of the congregation to discover what God is calling us to do and be in the years ahead. You are encouraged to participate in an afternoon retreat in which, together, we will pray about, imagine and discern our aspirations and goals for the future. Join us SUNDAY, MARCH 4, 12:30 to 4:00 pm, in the parlor, for a time of prayer and holy listening, led by an experienced facilitator.
Participants in the retreat will be invited to continue the visioning in small-group discussions later in March. As a companion practice, Pastor Ellen will lead a Lenten series on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 7:30 pm focused on listening for God’s call in our own lives.
To sign up for the retreat, add your name to the sign-up sheet in the parlor, or contact Kris Davis (krisdavis@starpower.net) with questions. Whether you are a lifelong member of the congregation or not yet a member, we hope you will join the Strategic Planning committee in this important shared journey.
