Fall has come to DC in the past week. The air is cool and crisp; the summer humidity is gone; and there are even frost warnings being issued! As we feel the change in seasons around us, it’s the perfect time to look ahead to the fall events coming up at Cleveland Park Church!
I wrote in my last memo about the musical components of our upcoming Community Fall Festival on October 27. In addition to the concert, this event is also a perfect time to come together as a community and celebrate fall. For children of all ages, our Children and Youth Programs committees will be creating a haunted house and planning other Halloween-themed activities. We will also be wrapping up the evening with a chili and cornbread pot luck supper. Please sign up in the parlor to bring your favorite chili recipe to share!
Our other big fall activity is the AIDS Walk, also on October 27. Participating in the AIDS Walk is an excellent way to support our Congregation’s mission programs focused on poverty and homelessness, AIDS, at-risk youth, elder care, and interfaith outreach, while also ideally enjoying a beautiful fall morning in our city. To sign up to join our team, go towww.aidswalkwashington.org and select the team “Cleveland Park Church.” To donate, go to the same site, type in “Kris Davis” for participant and click on “Cleveland Park Church” for team.
I hope to see many of you at both of these events!
