In 2024, we launched our Assistance Fund, which extends our mission of “nurturing love of neighbor” by providing assistance to local individuals facing an emergency financial need.
To make sure we can meet these needs, we strive to keep an average minimum monthly fund balance of $5,000, through contributions from individual church members. If you’d like to donate to the Fund, you can write a check to Cleveland Park Congregational UCC and put “Assistance Fund” in the memo line or donate online. All donations are tax deductible.

Who can apply for assistance?
Anyone in need is eligible to seek financial support from the Assistance Fund.
How can someone apply for assistance?
To apply, individuals can email our Assistance Fund Committee Chair at gro.hcruhccpc@dnufecnatsissa. The Chair will ask the following:
- What is the person’s name and contact information?
- What is the need?
- How much money is being requested?
- Where/to whom is the payment to be made?
The Chair will then forward the relevant information about the request and requestor to the rest of the Assistance Fund Committee.
How do you decide who receives assistance?
The Fund is overseen by a committee consisting of the Clerk, Mission & Social Action Committee Chair, recent Past Moderator, and Pastor (non-voting). After the Chair shares the request with the Assistance Fund Committee members, they will discuss and vote on it. A unanimous vote is required for approval.
Requestors are not required to provide proof of hardship or of specific financial need. However, as much information as possible about the requestor’s need may be collected.
How much can an individual receive?
The Fund is not meant to be an ongoing source of money for any one individual or family; however, an individual or family can make multiple requests until a specified limit is reached.
