Our church’s mission is “to nurture love of God and love of neighbor in the world.”
To carry out this mission, we partner with community service and justice organizations, providing annual financial and volunteer support. We also contribute to Our Church’s Wider Mission (OCWM), which funds the work of the UCC, including domestic and international development initiatives. Our congregation tithes (donates 10% of all church income) to our Community Partners and OCWM, as well as funding specific service activities chosen by our Mission & Social Action Committee.
Factors we consider when choosing Community Partners:
- Whether their work impacts people who live in the greater DC area.
- Whether they offer opportunities (as appropriate) for church members to volunteer.
- Whether they center the needs of lower income and people of color.
- Whether they work in one of our priority areas (see below).

We also participate in the UCC Justice & Witness Action Network, provide space for weekly 12 Step Groups, host community service projects, and collect grocery card, holiday gift, and food pantry donations throughout the year.
