This is a busy congregation. Our members—both individuals and groups—are involved in lots of different kinds of things. Some teach our kids. Others visit older people. Others feed the hungry. Others organize for justice. We all have different ways of nurturing love of God and love of neighbors in the world.

The one thing we all have in common is our worship services.
The congregation’s constitution identifies worship as our first purpose. We meet to pray, sing, and hear the word. Although the pastor has main responsibility for organization and leadership of worship, the constitution and bylaws give the Worship Committee a vital role in planning and setting policy for that work of the church.
The committee’s charge includes assisting the pastor with preparation and administration of the sacraments; consulting with the pastor about the worship interests of the church and community; and providing worship coverage for Sundays the pastor is away. The committee recruits, selects, and supports the summer preaching fellow and other guest preachers. One member organizes the worship support volunteers, who set up the sanctuary, greet visitors, and collect the offering.
I know that this is yet another committee, but it is important work. Again, worship is where we all meet each other—and where we meet God.
The committee wants to be more creative, more inclusive, and more responsive to the hopes and dreams of the congregation.
We could use your voice. Let me know if you want to know more.
